Emulating an older PC Clone
On Windows, there is always Virtual PC, which is now free from Microsoft, but it is too big for some computers, and I think it only plays HotM, with sketchy graphics. Personally, I have found a little gem called PicoXT, which emulates an anonymous PC clone BIOS and allows these games to be played quite nicely. It works like most other computer emulators.
On the Macintosh, I have been less than successful. Virtual PC 4 (the only version that I have) only plays number five, like the newer versions for Windows. I found this other emulator for Classic, but I haven't gotten it to work well due to lack of time spent testing. I'll update you soon.
Actually Using A PC
This is something really neat! The PC versions of Wizardry can be run on a modern PC with a floppy disk drive (even 3.5")! Go to RetroGrade Station. Make sure you agree to their disclaimer, and head on to the next page. In the main frame, scroll down to the link to the 'Programs' page. Then, scroll down to IMG2DSK.ZIP. Unzip that file. Using it like a command line utility (Open Command prompt, and type it as a command), you can use it to write the disk images here to actual floppy disks. Leave it in your computer and restart it to play Wizardry on your real hardware. For those of you not 'Computer Literate' enough to know, take the game disk out and boot up again to get back to your normal setup. Make sure you check out RetroGrade Station for a while; since you're into old games like Wizardry, you might like some of the other great games there.
