One thing needs to be said immediately.
Njam will pop up and harass you at various points. Run around, in circles
if need be, until he teleports away. Do not engage the enemy soldier!
|
|
Also those Statues (S) will fire on
you no matter what you do. Many seem to have radar and will nail you no
matter where you run to so if they go off, take it like a true adventurer
and remain where you are. No sense running out of a room with the seat of
your pants on fire until they stop shooting when they will be triggered
again the minute you walk back in the room. Most of them just shoot
for a moment then quit.
|
|
|
There are a couple in the area just
east of 1b that continuously fire lightening bolts. Get the timing and
crouch as you enter those rooms. The only thing in most of the rooms guarded
by these nasty Statues are normal loot chests so you don't have to enter
them to accomplish your goal here.
|
|
|
All directions given here are in correlation
to the map orientation as you see it. Your compass may indicate something
else, the maps and compass in the game don't always agree. So to avoid
confusion here pretend the top of the map is north.

Imprison the Meddler
(Part 1)
You should have already visited Njam's house and lured him here. If not better
go do that now. To continue with your quest you need to get to the Black
Chest at 3a to get the key that will unlock the door (3) leading to the
stairs down to the Lower Level
. If you stick to the path laid out in this walkthru you will have the
least Njam encounters possible. I noticed he pops up when you pass certain
points and I will guide you through so you don't trigger him more than
once at each of these points. No help for it, you have to pass the trigger
spots in order to make any progress.
|
|
|
Head directly from the entrance to
the watery area around 1b. When you open the door here the statues are gonna
get you, just hang in there, you can hop in the water to cool off your burning
hinney in a minute. Deal with the Floating Eyes once the door opens and
then proceed. You can swim or hop the slabs to the largest (1b). |
|
|
Now, time for a detour. The
inner section of this slab sinks down a few inches to reveal a button on
the west interior side. Push it and hop up north to get the Black Chest
behind the secret door (1a). (The area outlined in dark red was drawn in
since it does not appear on the map.) Deal with the Demon and the Terror
there and help yourself to the goodies.
|
|
|
Now just jump the slabs or hop in
and swim to the south west corner. Dive and enter the passage (2a) there.
You will not be underwater for very long, its only a short distance to
where this passage ramps out and your head is above water. This is also
a great place to come when you first enter this room if the Eyes are giving
you trouble. Only one at a time can engage in this tunnel.
|
|
|
Open the secret door (2b). Head
across the hall angling a little bit to the south. Head down the short
passage to the west where the rooms with the puzzle doors (PD) are located.
You may as well get the hang of them here since you need to know
how to open one after you get the key.
|
|
|
|
Each door has a 4x4 panel that can be
unlocked by pressing the blocks as indicated in this diagram. Enter the south
room and snatch the goods from the Black Chest there. The opposition isn't
too difficult. The north room, with the normal chest, has all the heavy hitters
in it.
|
|
|
|
Now continue south and and turn west
when you reach the end of the hall. There is no way to navigate past these
trap triggers here and you're just gonna have to run or jump right through
them. We ran a zig zag pattern and saw with mild satisfaction that at least
some of the fireballs missed us.
|
|
|
Now things can become real hairy if
you're not careful. The room with the Black Chest and key is within spitting
distance but do not go in yet. There are two doors here. The one closest
to the hallway you are in and a puzzle door that slams shut as soon as
you step from the small entry hall into the room. Njam will definitely
pop in here and he carts along a pair of pet Demons. Not too big a deal
except the room is already packed with Eyes, Demons, Terrors, you name it.
|
|
|
Creep down the little passage between
the doors being careful not to go into the room itself. Launch a ranged
attack at anything in the room to get their attention. Back out to the
wide hallway and engage whatever makes it through the door on this side.
Continue in this fashion until the room is empty. This way at least you
have some running room when buttehead shows up.
|
|
|
One little detail I should mention
here, once you enter the room, that annoying little puzzle door will not
open until after Njam is gone and everything is dead. So put your running
boots on and let's go. Just run circles around the room until you hear Njam
portal out. Now nail those Demons who have been backstabbing you. Get the
key and the loot from the other black chest. Head back the way you have
come proceeding to the hallway leading north to the locked door (3).
|
|
|
Njam will again pop up in this hallway.
A word of caution. Run forward use the key on the door and run only in
the area between this door and the two rooms just off this hall to kill
time while this door opens. You can hot foot it down the stairs to the
Lower Level
soon. DO NOT go past those rooms down the hallway toward the entrance. I
started running back and forth up and down the hallway and by the time the
door to the stairwell opened completely I had 3 Njams hot on my heels.

|
|
Imprison the Meddler
(Part 2: after returning from the lower level)
Now that you have successfully navigated the lower level you will again
enter this level along the ramp (4) that winds into the hall leading south
toward the Dragon Pharoah Statue (5). You can navigate the trapped
sections by first setting the traps off. Step forward slightly, then back
again, wait for the volleys to cease, and then run past while the trigger
resets. If you pop in to peek at the statue, its the same as the ones in
the lower level, Njam will pop in right along with you. Just ignore it and
proceed on toward the Elevator (6) to the Upper
Level
.
