Walkthru & Strategy
The statues here shoot in a fixed directions
and if you get your timing you can avoid taking damage from them.
Imprison the Meddler
Your objective on this level is to obtain the Key from the Black Chest
(5a) and open the Locked Door (6) to proceed back up to the Entry Level.
This will ultimately give you access to the Elevator leading to the Upper
Level where you will deal with Njam once and for all.
After you enter this level make your
way south to the door. Open it and run quickly into the room toward the west
wall. The statue swivels around to shoot at the door and you should be able
to scoot past it before it can harm you. Go south to the passage out of
the room and head west. Get your timing and zip past the two statues here.
The lever does nothing more than open
a trapdoor underneath you and dumps you into deep water with terrors and
Demons. Ignore it and ease your way south just to the archway entering
the large open area. Floating Eyes will harass you while you are on the
walkway over the watery area so you may want to bead in on a few and lure
them back into the hallway here and deal with them.
Loot bags virtually disappear from
sight in the water so I tried to keep them over dry ground unless I was right
in their face and could search a moment after they died.
You can elect to do one of three things
at this point. Jump down into the water and head right to the Chess
Game (5), go forward along the walkway and check out the Lamp (4), or go
on a little Nostalgia sight seeing trip.
The lamp gives random exp, the sight
seeing trip requires some acrobatics. Go to the bend in the walkway south
of the lamp. Face south and hop onto the pillar against the wall. Face west
and continue to hop pillars along the wall until you get to the secret passage
(2).
Njam will pop up once you enter the
Tomb area, although I have no idea why, there's nothing of value in this
area. Maybe there's something here he doesn't want you looking at. Like
the Dragon Pharaoh Statue (3). (He will pop up and harass you at each
of these statues by the way.) For all you long time MM fans you should recognize
this statue as the Dragon Pharaoh from the World of Xeen (Clouds &
Darkside).
Now that we have had our little trip
down memory lane lets get back to business.
Head for the chess game. The diagram here
is only for the first time you approach the chess board. If anything goes
wrong, any other moves are made, it will not work unless you restore your
game and begin your approach again. Follow the path across and run about
like fools until Njam bugs out. Then open the chests, grab the key, the
loot, and make your way to the locked door (6).
Open the locked door, head across
the bridge after dealing with the Floating Eyes and navigate through the
maze. The chest here acts like a Black Chest. We pulled the Artifact Manarus
on our trip through. Work your way to the north east section of the maze,
cross the bridge to the walkway around the perimeter of this room and follow
it until you are back on the Entry Level
.
