Notes for Atomic Wasteland 2098 v1.4 with Game Engine v3.2 - A Wizardry Scenario by Dan Gartung
===============================================================================================

18 March 2026.

Atomic Wasteland 2098 is an alternate Wizardry scenario to
the Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. It is set in a
 contemporary/futuristic environment.

This Wizardry scenario is for characters level 1 and up.

Game play suggestions:
- Having your level 1 fighters start with 18 strength and
high agility makes for a more enjoyable flow of the game.

Making a workable scenario from the original install disk
could be quite challenging as you have to have all the
right disks with the right versions in the right order.
Even if you follow the instructions, this could be a
 daunting task.

Therefore, I've made that step for you in this distribution
so that you are good to go without frustrations and wasting
a lot of time. This means you can ignore the procedure on
the last page of the Wizardry-Atomic-Wasteland-2098-v1.2-Manual.pdf.

The game engine has been upgraded to v3.2 from yours truly.

How to start:

- First, start the game:

  1) Insert the
     Wizardry-Atomic-Wasteland-2098-v1.2-with-engine-v3.2-Boot.dsk
     and boot/restart the computer.
  2) Choose options 'S' to start the game.
  3) Insert the
     Wizardry-Atomic-Wasteland-2098-v1.2-with-engine-v3.2-Scenario.dsk disk
     and press Return (Enter).

- Second, documentation:

The AtomicWasteland2098.dsk program disk used to create
the scenario contains a document with a back story that is
not easily accessible. You'll find a copy of what that
 document contains in the
 Wizardry-Atomic-Wasteland-2098-v1.2-Manual.pdf file.

The original and an additional player's guides are included
 in this distribution.

- Third, Atomic Wasteland 2098 install disk:

Although the scenario has been created/facilitated already as per
 above, you can boot the
 Atomic-Wasteland-2098-v1.2-Original-Install-Do-not-use-nor-play-with-engine-v3.2-Credits-Only.dsk
 to see the credits.

- Fourth, error fixed:

The authors made a small mistake on level 7 while
making their version 1.1 scenario which they corrected
in their version 1.2 which is what this release is
 based on.

Here are the details: On level 7 there is a door where the
scenario informs you that "...Sorry Master, but I may not
let you in without a floatation device.".

Unfortunately, you could not pass since the game was wrongly
coded in the way that the floatation device to pass
was not set. It was coded to -1 instead of the necessary
 item number.

So, until you have the MALOR (teleport) spell you would not
be able to go any further in the scenario. Having to cast
MALOR eats up your much needed spell points.

This distribution has the correction implemented.

Enjoy!
