Yet another of the terrible-in-Wizardry-7-now-revamped classes, the Alchemist has gone from having half the amount of spells as every other caster group, which were by and large completely worthless, to something much, much better.
Alchemists are awesome damage-over-time poison casters, and pretty good healers and augmenters/support magic casters for much of their careers. They also receive a bonus to casting all the damaging, support and cloud spells of the "Alchemy" spellbook. But it is when they get their final spells that you will adore your Alchemist the most, as they use a single spell to halve or eradicate the life points of every enemy in front of you, or even every enemy just close to you, with Tsunami and Earthquake.
While camping, Alchemists also make potions for your party to use. As their skill in Alchemy rises, they can also mix potions and powders together to make better and more useful items, which can be used, or even sold for a huge profit.
Finally, since their spells rely on mixing materials together and not incantations of power, Alchemists can not be silenced.
Alchemists are the undisputed masters of Earth magic, which includes many various types of attack and support magic, and share the title of master of Water magic with the Mage and Priest (for the damaging Tsunami alone), and master of Air magic with the Psionic, with various debilitating and lethal cloud spells.
Alchemists are the only of the four casters to get such a late start with damaging or healing spells, but are more than worth it in the end when they Power Cast your enemies to oblivion with one or two spells, and have you rolling in cash with their invaluable Alchemy ability.
Alchemist sub-class
- Mixologist
Simply treat levelling the Mixologist like any of the other pure caster classes. Put 3 points into Intelligence a level, along with Speed. Later, when they hit 100, continue with Piety and Senses. This will help the Mixologist cast spells well and fast, and overcome the negative effect on Initiative that comes with casting any spell.
Supporting early and dominating later, the Mixologist is the Ninja of the magical realm.
