Enter the dragon. A Monk might actually be one of the easiest hybrid
classes to develop. Though their skill in Martial Arts is almost laughable
early in the game it won't be long before the Monk will begin to amaze
you.
If your Monk plans to concentrate on Martial Arts the main focus of
development should turn to Dexterity, Speed, and Strength. With Speed and
Dexterity maximized your Monk can attack more often in a single round of
close combat than any other profession. Add to this great Strength
and the Powerstrike skill and you will have created a deadly combatant.
The Psionic spells available to the Monk can debilitate your opponents,
protect the party, and even improve party performance. Unless you plan
the Monk to have a major spell casting roll, the attribute of Intelligence
can remain at the starting value and they will progress rather well in
their magical abilities. If you plan them to cast spells heavily then Intelligence
should be an integral part of their development.
Although the Critical Strike skill requires Senses, the starting value
of the Monk is sufficient for the duration of game. Particularly so if
Speed is a main developmental focus or is at least supplemented in some
fashion. |
