He stood upon the rise, this wisp of a man. Tattered robe fluttering
in the wind, a white flowing beard gently lifted in the breeze. Looking
old, fragile, worn..... Looks have never deceived more as I stare in awe
at the devastation wrought by whispered words. A multitude lie not far
off, bodies charred by unholy fires that seared forth from those frail
translucent hands. Many, still smoldering, gripped their weapons uselessly
so swift was their undoing. At this moment I knew I was grateful this seemingly
doddering old fool was my comrade and not my enemy.
A Mage's power lies in their magic which can be quite deadly. The demands
of its use require an Intelligent individual and the related expert skill
of Powercast produces one of the most devastating spell casters this game
has to offer. Though the profession makes an initial demand on Dexterity
its development can be ignored unless you desire the expert skill of Reflextion.
You may wish to consider Speed for the expert skill Snakespeed to insure
your Mage moves swiftly in battle. Some consideration might also be given
to Vitality as the Mage does suffer professional penalties limiting their
health points.
Though not the most likely of choices, races with high vitality can
benefit the Mage profession. Likewise the profession can benefit a couple
of these races by improving their magical resistance with the +5% bonus
to all realms. |
